Department of Immigration and
Citizenship – Settlement Grants Program (SGP)
Settlement services for recently arrived migrants, refugees and humanitarian
entrants are a part of MigrantLINK’s service program. The program is targeted to
family stream migrants and humanitarian entrants. Settlement services focus
on direct assistance to individuals, information sessions and forums, and
also include community capacity building and advice/support to other
organisations working with recently arrived communities. Direct services to
individuals are currently provided in the Northern Beaches area, and
include orientation services (information, referral, and casework),
integration, inclusion and advocacy services (supporting enhanced access to
mainstream services) and community development services (to support stronger
community infrastructure).
We provide case work services two days a week at Northern Beaches College of
TAFE, Brookvale: these include a Tibetan-specific service on Wednesdays, and
a generalist service on Thursdays. We are currently negotiating to deliver
settlement services a third day in Dee Why (we will advise of the
day/location once finalised). We provide follow-up services from
MigrantLINK's Hornsby office two days a week.
